On Thursday morning, January 25th, 8 IG's (Ellen, Cindy, Patricia, Ellie, Vicki, Fran, Jaye and Susan) attended a two hour demonstration and talk by Diane Shagott at her one woman business "Hats to Di For!". (If pictures are any indication of the enthusiasm the group had, they sent over 30!!!) Diane is a millinery who has been designing and creating hats right here on Marco Island for 12 years (who knew?). Although she has an engineering degree, she comes from Louisville, KY and was influenced by the Kentucky Derby and their tradition of the women wearing beautiful hats. When she took her first millinery course, she was hooked! It took Diane 3 months to create many hats for the Naples Botanical Gardens' fundraiser "Hats in The Garden" this last November, including one worn by FL's First Lady, Mrs. Scott.

Diane, was very friendly, gracious, and bubbly and answered all questions. She showed the ladies how she creates her hats and the beautiful things that adorn them from scratch. She even allowed them to touch the fabrics and try some on! She is busy right now creating hats for the upcoming derby. More information and a video about Diane can be found at http://www.hatstodifor.com For those of us that did not attend, we missed something special-- you can tell by how enthralled the IG's are!
